What is the importance of a CARB EO number?
CARB EO" stands for "California Air Resources Board Executive Order." In the context of automotive parts, especially aftermarket components like performance parts or emissions-related equipment, a CARB EO number indicates that the product has been evaluated and approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for use in vehicles while maintaining compliance with California's emissions standards.
CARB EO numbers are particularly important in California due to the state's stringent emissions regulations. In order to legally install certain aftermarket parts on vehicles in California, such as intake systems, exhaust systems, superchargers, or turbochargers, they must be CARB-approved and have an associated EO number. This ensures that the aftermarket parts do not negatively impact vehicle emissions and air quality.
Having a CARB EO number means that the product has undergone testing and certification by CARB to verify that it meets emissions standards and does not adversely affect vehicle emissions. It provides assurance to consumers and regulatory agencies that the product is compliant with California's emissions regulations.
